IXYS Introduces a New 3400V Phase-leg Rectifier Module for Higher Efficiency in High Voltage Applications
IXYS Corporation has announced the extension of its diode rectifier module range to 3400 volts repetitive reverse voltage.
The dual rectifier module, part number MDD175-34N1, features two diodes in an industry standard module. Each diode is rated at 175 Amps average current at a case temperature of 100 degrees centigrade and rated to 3400V operation up to 125 degrees centigrade.
"This extension of the usable voltage range of existing products to 3400V represents a significant technological breakthrough for efficient power rectification above 2500V" commented Bradley Green, Vice President of International Sales at IXYS. "Most of our competitors struggle for reliability in product manufacture with operating voltages above 2000V and this latest development further highlights our long standing tradition for market leading development in the bi-polar high voltage, high power arena."
The MDD175-34N1 module benefits IXYS' own direct copper bond (DCB) isolated substrates which have been extended to offer a 3600 volt terminal to base isolation rating. Product features also include the standard set of IXYS' design parameters; ruggedness; world leading reliability and highest efficiency and is designed to fulfil all relevant industrial standards for most applications.
The new High Voltage Rectifier family is a new generation that covers the global trrend for many applications to increase the supply voltage and is typically utilised in any front end rectification stage in applications such as motor drives, wind power conversion systems and DC power supplies.
This new technology fulfils the requirement of the engineer who needs to raise the voltage of a rectification system without the need for operating devices in series and in many cases can therefore reduce the system component count.
