Measurement Specialties capabilities allow them to engineer and manufacture custom thermistor probe solutions to meet individual specifications by combining a thermistor component, probe housing, lead configuration and connector where a surface, air, gas or liquid temperature sensor probe is required. They can engineer probes designed specifically for customer requirements ensuring that design challenges are overcome, that the probe will be cost-effective in high volumes and that the customer has specific revision control.
Measurement Specialties offers a range of thermopiles for non-contacting temperature sensing and gas concentration sensing. Thermopiles are created by lining up multiple thermocouples in series. If a temperature difference is induced between a hot junction connecting two thermocouples and their open ends (cold junctions), a voltage is created.
Thermopiles are available as components, modules on ceramic board or custom OEM systems. Eight element linear arrays are available for broader sensing areas for use in such things as microwaves and stovetop hoods. Applications include thermometers, room air conditioners, toasters, hair dryers, pyrometers, car climate controls, gas-detection and sensing of a person based on body temperature.

Piezo Film
Piezoelectric Film is an enabling transducer technology with unique capabilities. Piezo Film produces voltage in proportional to compressive or tensile mechanical stress or strain, making it an ideal dynamic strain gage. It makes a highly reliable, low-cost vibration sensor, accelerometer or dynamic switch element. Piezo Film is also ideally suited for high fidelity transducers operating throughout the high audio (>1kHz) and ultrasonic (up to 100MHz) ranges.
Learn more about how Piezo Film works or download the Piezo FAQs and the Piezo Product Guide and Price List.
Piezo film elements are offered in four variations: silver ink screen printed electrodes, lamination for higher voltage output when bending, flexible leads and shielded sensors. Applications include dynamic strain gauges, vibration sensors for alarms, switches, speakers and contact microphones. Piezo film design kits are a good starting point to learn more about Piezo film sensors and their applications.
Click here for further details about Piezo film elements.
Piezo film is available in a variety of different sizes, thicknesses and metalisation options for OEM manufacturing. Sheets can be fabricated into simple transducers or used at full size for applications such as speakers or security anti-tamper film.
Click here for further details about Piezo film sheets.
Measurement Specialties manufactures Piezo polymer into a coaxial cable format, where the Piezo polymer is the “dielectric” between the center core and the outer braid. Two versions of the Piezo cable are offered: copolymer and spiral wrapped PVDF. When the cable is compressed or stretched, a charge or voltage is generated proportional to the stress. Piezo cable is extremely rugged, and will stand up to heavy loads as with truck axle counting. Its linear format makes it ideal for monitoring large areas.
