Product of the Month – Clare Solid State Relay CPC1510
Available now from Clare, the CPC1510 is a current-limiting normally open 1-Form-A optically isolated solid state relay (SSR) that both replaces electromechanical devices and enhances the performance of wireline-interface applications.
Manufactured in Clare's dielectrically isolated silicon technology, the CPC1510 features active current-limit protection circuitry integrated with the output MOSFET relay switches.
The active current limit circuitry also provides a thermal shutdown feature in the CPC1510 relay offering excellent power cross immunity for improved survivability in harsh environments.
These enhancements greatly improve the robustness of end systems using this device compared with relays without the integrated current limit.
Steve Andrezyk, Clare Director of Marketing, said: 'With high circuit integration and built-in current-limit protection, the CPC1510 simplifies PC board layout design and reduces error rates and manufacturing complexities'.
'In addition, this device saves 20% board space, making it an excellent choice for applications requiring current limiting'.
The CPC1510 relay provides current limiting for both unidirectional DC and bi-directional AC applications.
Output load voltage specification for the device is 250V and the continuous load current handling capability is 200mA maximum.
Maximum on-resistance is 15ohm for bi-directional and 3.75ohm for unidirectional applications.
A highly efficient GaAIAs LED is used for actuation control.
This current limiting 1-Form-A normally open SSR is for general telecomms switching applications such as the hook switch or ringing relay as well as instrumentation, industrial controls, peripherals, security, and medical equipment.
Additional key features include linear AC/DC operation, low power consumption, clean, bounce-free switching and low power drive requirements.
Clare OptoMOS solid state relays and special telecomms circuits are prevalent throughout the communications network offering semiconductor control, system isolation and board savings compared with electromechanical relays.
OptoMOS is in customer premises equipment such as modems, basestations, fax machines and PDAs, as well as central office equipment like remote terminals and PBXs.
The CPC1510 OptoMOS SSR is now available in production volumes with a lead-time of twelve weeks after receipt of order.
Pricing is $1.48 each in 10,000-unit quantities.
