Since the first-half of the 1900’s, there have been no advancements in telephone audio quality. Worse still, the legacy 300-3400Hz audio bandwidth standard for Great Grandma’s phone is standard for cell phone networks too. In the age of HDTV, Great Grandma’s phone is still, literally, the state-of-the art in terms of telephone sound quality for all phones on the Publicly Switch Telephone Network, most all Mobile Phone Networks, and more than 90% of all Enterprise or Business Phone systems in use today. Thankfully, change is finally on the horizon.

That change has been called many names: HD Communication, HD Voice, HD Audio, HD Telephony or Wideband Audio. These terms all mean the same thing. MWM has been pioneering this space for the past 10 years, developing HD Acoustics for what is finally happening now: Telephone Audio Renaissance! HD audio codecs now enable HD voice-over-IP audio content to be delivered from endpoint to endpoint. The challenge is now to transfer HD Acoustics between the endpoint and the user.
